Basic SkillsOur Basic Skills project provides support and opportunities for people wanting to improve their literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills. The project allows people to gain confidence in their abilities and learn at their own pace in a safe and supportive environment. People can choose what they want to learn and whether or not they want to work towards accredtation. For those who do want to gain certificates, we offer accreditation in literacy, numeracy and IT at various levels to suit the individual. We also currently provide ESOL classes for women from ethnic minority groups, who are aged 16 and over and live in Hafod, or the surrounding areas. The classes offer opportunities for women to improve their understanding and use of the English language in everyday situations.
The classes cover the four main skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. We currently cater for complete beginners up to Entry 2 level. Women may choose to study for exams with Trinity College London, for which we are a registered examining centre. A free crèche facility is available in the centre for pre-school age children. |
