Dear Friends, old and new

Caer Las has been through some exciting changes recently. We feel this is a good time, therefore, to update our current partners and introduce ourselves to new audiences that may have an interest in our work.

Caer Las started out over thirty years ago as a small homelessness hostel in Swansea. Since then, we've added more services and spread throughout South Wales. We now deal with a host of issues including mental health, personal development, basic skills and housing. And working across these areas has shown us how they are all inextricably linked to social exclusion.

Several years ago we decided that we wanted to do more than just provide services. Though they are essential to all of our clients, we felt that there was more we could do through digging deeper and identifying the root causes of social exclusion. Only through developing a better understanding of these can we develop and pilot longterm solutions. And the findings from these can help inform social change, through providing policy makers with a good understanding of grassroots issues.

To enable us to do this, we restructured the organisation; empowering project teams and clients, expanding management capacity and delivering a comprehensive staff training programme. Throughout this time, we've continued to support more than 1,000 clients every year through our twelve projects across South Wales.

We've commissioned an identity, which we feel better reflects our new progressive approach. It also reflects the breadth and complexity of issues we now work with. And we've updated our marketing literature and website www.caerlas.org.uk - please take a look and tell us what you think.

Our latest annual report will be available in the summer. It contains details on all the innovative new projects we've been working on as well as some heartwarming stories from the people we have the pleasure of working with. It will be available to download from our website though if you'd prefer a hard copy, please let us know and we'll gladly pop one in the post for you.

All that remains is for us to thank everyone who has worked with us over the years. We look forward to your continued support and to building new partnerships that can help us in our overarching goal of tackling social exclusion.

Yours sincerely

Joanne McNally
Director
